21-year-old Shooting Victim Paralyzed, Security Guard Walks Free

gun-lawsTULSA, OKLAHOMA — After the only witness to the February 4, 2015 incident involving a security guard shooting an unarmed 21-year-old man, police have yet to provide an investigation update to the public.

Due to the security guard firing three life threating shots, the 21-year-old victim is currently suffering paralysis and has a bullet that remains lodged in his spine. Sources indicate that the victim has been given a quadriplegic prognosis.

The Tulsa World newspaper reported that police eventually tracked down the female that occupied the vehicle with the victim and she gave a different account of what happened during the incident, but the police chose not to take the unnamed security guard into custody.

Police Sgt. Dave Walker stated, “We didn’t feel he was a threat to the community, we also didn’t have any other witnesses to support or deny his story.”

Tezlyn Figaro, President, Tezlyn Figaro Communications Group states, “The community is devastated by what happened to this young man, there is a 21-year-old man who may never walk again while his shooter walks around a free man. Additionally, there is a young lady who experienced a very tragic event by watching her friend be shot directly in front of her. The victim will require a lifelong physical, financial, emotional and spiritual support system. We anxiously await to hear an update on the investigation.”
