The Irving Police Department conducted two DWI No-Refusal Operations during the two week Spring Break holiday enforcement period. The department partnered the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to provide additional manpower whose primary focus was to locate and arrest impaired drivers.

The no-refusal operations were conducted on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 as a result of a grant. During No-Refusal operations, those arrested for DWI are only offered a blood test. If the arrested person refuses to provide a sample, a warrant is sought to authorize the blood draw.

A total of 36 DWI arrests were made during the enforcement period, 10 of which were made by officers working grant funded shifts. Additionally, officers issued 70 citations during that time. The Irving Police Department will continue to participate in the statewide grant, which has shown continued success in Irving and across the state.
