DNC: Which Rand Paul is talking today?

rand paulIn response to Rand Paul’s comments today, DNC Director of African American Media Michael Tyler issued the following statement:

“I’m sorry, I’m confused. Which Rand Paul made these comments today?  The Rand Paul who says we need greater economic opportunity for urban areas, or the one who wants to eliminate the Departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development? The one who pats himself on the back for speaking to African American audiences, or the one who joked that he was glad his train wasn’t stopping in Baltimore?  The one who calls for greater engagement with African Americans, or the one who dismissed the Voting Rights Act?  The one who says no one in Congress has done more on Civil Rights than himself, or the one who voiced opposition to the Civil Rights Act? The one who quotes Martin Luther King Jr. on uniting the two Americas, or the one who opposes increasing the minimum wage for working people?

“Rand Paul may think he’s a different kind of Republican, but the more he mouths-off, the more we see he’s  just another run-of-the-mill politician who will happily contradict himself just to pander to his audience.  Rand Paul can’t be trusted on the issues that matter to the American people.”
