Irving church helping family of young drowning victims

memorial serviceBear Creek Community Church is helping the family which suffered the tragic death of three children during the last week. The church is hosting a memorial service on Friday at 7 p.m. and they are also helping to raise money for the burial costs for the young boys.

Last Wednesday, 10-year-old August Smith, her two brothers 9-year-old Treshawn Smith and 11-year-old Anthony Smith went to the swimming pool at their apartment complex in Irving with their mother and younger siblings. Reportedly none of the children were experienced swimmers. While the mother was watching the younger children, she realized she was no longer hearing the older kids. She screamed out for help. August died on Wednesday from her injuries and after five days on life support, the two brothers passed away.

Speaking by phone earlier today, Rev. Dennis Web, the pastor of Bear Creek and also an Irving City Councilman, indicated the church was contacted by the family for assistance. They are hosting the memorial services and helping to raise monies to help cover the cost of the funeral services for the boys. Any remaining funds will be provided to the family.

For more details, visit Bear Creek Community Church or call (972) 257-0206. The memorial service for Treshawn and Anthony will begin at 7 p.m. at the church located at 2700 Finley Road in Irving.
