Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne is defending law enforcement and school officials who were involved in the arrest and suspension of Ahmed Mohamed, a Muslim 14-year-old ninth-grader who brought a homemade clock to school that teachers mistook for a bomb.
“I do not fault the school or the police for looking into what they saw as a potential threat,” Van Duyne wrote in a statement posted to her Facebook page Wednesday.
Van Duyne said school and law enforcement officials were simply following school protocols when a “possible threat” or “criminal act” is discovered.
“To the best of my knowledge, they followed protocol for investigating whether this was an attempt to bring a Hoax Bomb to a school campus,” Van Duyne wrote. “I hope this incident does not serve as a deterrent against our police and school personnel from maintaining the safety and security of our schools.”

This is just another example of the social stereotyping that is going on in America and the city of Irving is no exception. Just as another one of your article stated this is a stand against people of “COLOR”, but in Irving I believe that the issue goes for and beyond color.
I really believe in my city, Irving Texas, the whole process is political, social and economically harassment and that is one of the main reasons that the entertainment area is not being built in Los Colinas. It is not the will of the people but the will of who controls the purse.
What else could be expected from THIS mayor in THIS city?
This school administration did absolutely the right thing.we don’t need PC to run interference when our citizens are being vigilant. Turns out this kid and his family aren’t so squeaky clean.when we look at this as a mistake by the school or police,we are only contributing to what this president and the rest of the muslim radicals want.to catch us with our guards down. Wake up and see what is happening around you. This country is heading in the direction of the middle east if we don’t destroy this PC that is quickly destroying the country and the world.
