We salute Petty Officer 2nd Class Mecaela Bellolampkin, a Dallas native and 2003 graduate of Hillcrest High School, was named Naval Air Station Patuxent River 2015 Junior Sailor of the Year, and Naval Air Station Patuxent River Junior Sailor of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal 2016.
Bellolampkin serves as a logistics specialist in the Navy.
When asked how she felt about receiving this award, Bellolampkin said, “Making Junior Sailor of the Year is one of my biggest accomplishments yet. It feels good to know that my command sees me as one of the best; to me, I was only doing my job and trying to become a better leader. I would not have made Junior Sailor of the Year if it wasn’t for my chain of command and my junior Sailors.”
Bellolampkin has been in the Navy for 10 years and is currently serving as the Leading Petty Officer of Ground Electronics/Sole Logistics Specialist of Air Operations at Naval Air Station Patuxent River
