Workshop explores university pre-admission partnerships

collincollegesJan. 28, 2016 – Representatives from Collin College’s  pre-admission partner colleges and universities will share information on the pre-admission program’s benefits at a Destination College workshop from 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Collin College’s Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

“Collin College Pre-Admission Partnerships: Transferring to Universities” will cover the application process, financial aid, scholarships and ways to prepare for college. Representatives will meet parents and students during individual breakout sessions and information tables from university partners and Collin College will be available for browsing.

This event will be followed by an encore of the Destination College series’ most popular workshop, “The Magic of Storytelling: How to Write a Successful College Essay,” 6:30-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 1 at the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center. That workshop will be hosted by Marilyn Kaufman, M.Ed., one of 25 college counselors on the Princeton Review National College Counselor Advisory Board.

Another workshop, “Getting Started at Collin College: For New Students” is planned from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 22 at the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Center.

Collin College serves nearly 52,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which serves 3,200 additional students each year in partnership with The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
