On Tuesday, April 19 around 8:50 p.m. a citizen flagged down Dallas police officers and directed them to a disturbance at 7900 LBJ Freeway involving a white male suspect. The police saw him, but the suspect ran away and carjacked someone, pulling them from their 2013 Toyota and evaded the police.
On the following evening at about 6:40 p.m., a White male suspect approached a male victim in the motel parking lot 12121 Coit Road and attempted to carjack a victim at knife point. The victim surrendered his vehicle, however the suspect was unable to operate the standard transmission. The suspect then attempted to carjack two additional victims, however the final intended victim produced a handgun and pointed it at the suspect and the suspect fled on foot southbound on Coit Road.
Officers were actively searching for the suspect in those robberies when they received a 9-1-1 call involving the same White male suspect reportedly breaking into an apartment one block south at 12009 Coit Road. When officers arrived, they found that the suspect had caused damage to a sliding glass door trying to get into the apartment but had already left the location.
While officers were investigating the burglary attempt, they received a second 9-1-1 call regarding a burglary of another apartment in the same complex. A 90-year-old female victim reported that a White male suspect forced entry into her apartment carrying a large knife and told her he was hiding from police. The suspect grabbed the 90-year-old female victim by the arm and attempted to drag her at knifepoint into her bathroom. The victim broke away from the suspect and fled her apartment.
Officers entered the victim’s apartment and made contact with the suspect who was hiding in the bathroom. The suspect informed the officers that he was armed with a knife and a gun and refused to surrender. After several hours of negotiations officers were able to take the suspect into custody uninjured.
The suspect was identified as Maxxim Elliot Bedford, a 26-year-old White male. Bedford has been identified as the individual responsible for each of the aforementioned offenses and is in the Dallas County Jail charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and three counts of Aggravated Robbery.
