Irving PD reports In-Custody Death

IrvingPDOn Sunday, June 12, 2016 at approximately 8:13 a.m., Irving Jail detention staff found 41-year-old Gabriel Pedro Gonzales unresponsive in his jail cell. Resuscitation efforts were immediately initiated by the Jail detention staff and the Irving Fire Department was called to the Jail. When paramedics arrived, they continued life saving measures. Mr. Gonzales was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving but was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:13 a.m.

Mr. Gonzales had been booked into the City of Irving Municipal Jail following his arrest on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at approximately 11:45 a.m., for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the City of Dallas and the City of Grand Prairie. An autopsy was performed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office and the results are pending. At this time, the cause of death is unknown as there were no obvious signs of trauma to indicate the cause of death. An investigation into his death is ongoing.
