Reminder to take care of neighbors during the heat of the summer

Credit via I

According to statistics, each year more people die from “excessive heat events” than from hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes combined.

The Irving Fire Department asks everyone to please make a special effort to CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS DURING A HEAT WAVE, especially if they are seniors, young children or people with special needs. Many older residents live alone and could suffer unnecessarily in the heat because they are isolated from friends and family.

That is why the public is reminded to please take care of our neighbors.
