WNBA cancels controversial fines

imageThe WNBA suddenly remembered there is such a thing as freedom of speech still in America, or more pointedly the freedom to be quiet. That is exactly members of the NBA’s LIberty team decided to do on Friday following the fines announced earlier this week.

The league fined players from three teams $500 each because last month they wore black during pre game warm ups to quietly protest the shooting of unarmed Black men by police throughout the country.

Citing the league’s uniform policy game suspensions and the $500 fines were announced. The fines seem to be set to send a message, because usually the uniform violations result in a fine of $200.
