Attorneys for the Sandra Bland family say a settlement has been reached in their civil suit.
Cannon Lambert, attorney for Bland’s family has reportedly told the press, the wrongful death lawsuit was settled for $1.9 million.
The settlement with the Texas Department of Public Safety was capped by state statutes. The agency will pay $100,000, with Waller County jail paying $1.8 million.
Additional conditions include a requirement of ER nurses for all shifts, use automated electronic sensors to ensure accurate and timely cell checks; and activity seek the passage of additional state funds for jail intaking, inmate screening, training and additional jail support. If any new laws are passed, they must be named in Bland’s honor.

Nothing can bring her back, however RN jobs will be created, companies will increase their revenue for equipment installed, electronic equipment to monitor intakes, state funds to ensure that intakes have opportunity to gain funds to bail out even if family/friends are unable to quickly assist, etc., and bills that should pass to HONOR her activist legacy. No matter what is said about Sandra Bland, she gave her life after being voided of human dignity in a SIMPLE traffic stop in Waller County.
