Minorities are poised to turn Texas Blue for Clinton

As the Tea Party begin to rise, in an interview with Texas Monthly, the leader of the GOP warned that the rhetoric against the Hispanic community could come back to bite the party. He pointed to the demographics as the problem, the advice was ignored. Donald Trump has even risen to the top of the GOP with stronger rheortric. If the Washington Post’s recent poll is accurate, their day of reckoning could be Nov. 8.

The poll shows that Hillary Clinton is within the margin of error to be the first Democrat to win Texas since Jimmy Carter was elected President in 1976. It has been 20 years since a Republican was elected to a statewide office, this is no small milestone.

Crystal Zermeno, director of political strategy of the Texas Organizing Project, said, “Yesterday’s Washington Post poll revealed what we’ve been hearing and experiencing on the ground for some time. Communities of color in Texas are fed up and not going to take the Trump assault lying down.”

“The demographics are on our side for progressive change in leadership for Texas. People of color are the majority in Texas, and we have a progressive majority of registered voters. However, in 2012, more than 2 million registered voters of color sat out the election.

Soon, voters will have a chance to let their voices be heard, whether it is a message the GOP wants to hear is a different matter.
