Lewisville to hold public forums on Fair Housing issues

housingThe City of Lewisville is conducting an Assessment of Fair Housing and is holding multiple public forums to discuss resident’s issues and help formulate future strategies.

These forums are the first steps in the process of creating the city’s Housing and Community Development Five-Year Strategic Plan. The City wants to use local knowledge and decision-making to determine the best way to revitalize distressed areas and expand access to quality housing.

Forums are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15, 6:30 p.m., Glenmore Savage Community Room, 1197 W. Main Street; and Monday, Dec. 19, 7 p.m., City Council Chambers inside City Hall, 151 W. Church Street. Both sessions are free to attend and open to all Lewisville residents.

A public survey will be posted on cityoflewisville.com/housing starting Monday, Nov. 6, soliciting input from residents regarding community issues. It will remain active until Wednesday, Nov. 30. Input gathered from the public survey and the public forums will influence a draft Assessment of Fair Housing. That document will be featured on the City’s website from Friday, Dec. 2, through Monday, Jan. 2. Comments on the document are welcome at the Monday, Dec. 19, public meeting.
