DeSoto delays Holiday Parade as football team’s playoff run continues

desoto-high-school-eagles“DeSoto is a football town and when our beloved DeSoto High School Eagles advance to the 6A D2 playoffs on the same date and time as our Holiday Parade, the parade must be postponed,” said DeSoto Mayor Curtistene McCowan.

Even though DeSoto’s population exceeds 50,000, it is still a small town.

“We have one high school and when our football team is headed for the State playoffs, the whole town supports them,” said Mayor McCowan.  “Our Eagles play the Cedar Hill Longhorns at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. and we want to show our support by postponing our Holiday Parade that is scheduled for the same day and time.  Several groups from DeSoto ISD had registered to participate and the many other groups want to attend the game as well so it makes sense to cancel the parade for Dec. 3, 2016 and explore other options.”

A new date for the parade has not been announced.
