Dallas ISD is closed indefinitely

As the Mayor and City Manager were holding a press conference announcing new rules surrounding restaurants and public events, Dallas ISD released a major update regarding classroom instruction.

To slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our community, all Dallas ISD schools will close indefinitely. This action follows advice from the Dallas County Health and Human Services department (DCHHS).

We recognize the significant impact this extended closure will have on the entire community, especially for families who depend on the district for critical services.

While our classrooms are empty, our work on behalf of children continues. We have activated at-home learning, our teachers are prepared to begin distance instruction, and Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) will distribute meals at select campus locations. These sites will become central locations for family and student resource distribution in the coming weeks.

The Board of Trustees did provide an update later in the day:

  • Meal pick up locations can be found at https://www.dallasisd.org/fcns.
  • Family Service Clinics located at certain Dallas ISD campuses will remain open and can be found at https://www.dallasisd.org/youthandfamilycenters.
  • We recognize that while we are making virtual learning available across the district, many of our students and their families do not have access to the internet. The district has been working around-the-clock to ensure our students are provided with the technology and resources necessary to continue their learning.

Please expect phone messages with updates and visit www.dallasisd.org/COVID19 for more information.
