Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. showcases performing arts talent at the 88th District Meeting in New Orleans

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly hosted its 88th District Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, from April 16 to April 20, 2025.

Among the many highlights of this impactful event was the James L. Doss Talent Hunt program, held on the afternoon of Friday, April 18, which celebrated young artistic talent in categories such as instrumental music, voice, dance, and dramatic interpretation.

Eleven (11) contestants from four states—Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas—participated in this prestigious program.

The audience was treated to captivating performances that showcased the exceptional talents of these young individuals. After thoughtful deliberation by a panel of four judges, the top performers were announced:

• 1st Place: Zora McCall, Saxophone (Sophomore, Sachse High School, Sachse, TX)

• 2nd Place: Vir Gandhi, Piano (Sophomore, Liberty High School, Frisco, TX)

• 3rd Place: Jaylen Scott, Flute (Sophomore, Memorial High School, Port Arthur, TX)

First-place winner Zora McCall will now advance to the Omega Psi Phi Leadership Conference, set to take place in July 23-27 in Detroit, Michigan.

There, she will perform alongside contestants from across the nation in a celebration of artistic excellence. All participants of the program will be awarded scholarships, further empowering their educational and artistic journeys.
