DART Offers Free Rides on New Silver Line for Carrollton’s 15th Annual Festival at the Switchyard

CARROLLTON — Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is celebrating the debut of its new Silver Line by offering free rides to the 15th Annual Festival at the Switchyard on Saturday, November 8, in Downtown Carrollton.

Festivalgoers can board the Silver Line to reach Downtown Carrollton Station (1106 S. Broadway Street). This year’s lineup features Rick Springfield, Spin Doctors, Sixpence None the Richer, and Alien Ant Farm.

The Festival honors Carrollton’s railroad heritage. The city grew around a key switchyard where three railroads intersected — a legacy now connected through DART’s expanding regional rail network.

DART first partnered with Carrollton in 2010, offering preview rides on the Green Line ahead of its official launch. Fifteen years later, the Silver Line continues that tradition, connecting seven cities: Plano, Richardson, Addison, Carrollton, Dallas, Coppell, and Grapevine, with a final stop at DFW Airport. It officially opens Saturday, October 25, and rides remain free through Festival day.

“This event gives riders a special chance to experience the excitement of the new Silver Line,” said Jeamy Molina, DART Chief Communications Officer. “We look forward to welcoming festivalgoers for a safe, convenient, and free ride to one of the region’s most beloved events.”

Beyond the music, the Festival will feature rides, games, family activities, food vendors, and a beer garden, all free to the public.

“Since its creation, the Festival at the Switchyard has celebrated Carrollton’s history and its vision for the future,” said Kelli Lewis, the city’s marketing director. “Fifteen years later, partnering with DART highlights both the city’s heritage and the opportunities the Silver Line brings.”

Sponsors include Bright Event Rentals, iHeart Media, Lone Star 92.5, Dallas Morning News, Whataburger, Frost Bank, Republic Services, and others.
