Big Tex Waves Farewell Until 2026

After 24 days and welcoming over two million fairgoers, Big Tex® has wrapped up his 73rd year as the official greeter of the State Fair of Texas. The 55-foot-tall cowboy has once again stood tall as the most iconic figure at Fair Park, greeting visitors, posing for photos, and helping create memories for families from across Texas and beyond.

The public is invited to say farewell to this Texas legend as he is taken down for the year on Wednesday, October 22, starting at 10:00 a.m. in Big Tex Circle. State Fair representatives will be available for interviews and photo opportunities, making it a perfect moment for fans to celebrate the end of another unforgettable Fair season.
