McKINNEY – Downtown McKinney will soon become a winter wonderland filled with local art, holiday lights, and family joy. From Nov. 28–30, the city will host its annual “Home for the Holidays… A McKinney Christmas” celebration, presented by Commercial Bank of Texas.
Visitors can expect nostalgic traditions alongside new holiday delights in the heart of McKinney’s historic downtown. The 14-block area will feature festive activities, delicious food, and entertainment for all ages.

Featured Activities at Home for the Holidays
Official Tree Lighting Ceremony
Kick off the holiday weekend at the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 28, at 6:15 p.m. on the Downtown McKinney Square. HEB sponsors the McKinney Community Christmas Tree, supported by residents and local partners.
Visits with Santa
Santa will be on the square greeting children and hearing their wish lists. Capture a photo to remember the moment forever. Reservations are not required. Santa’s Village is sponsored by Park Place Lexus Acura.
Live Holiday Entertainment
The Texas Rangers Stage will showcase three days of live holiday performances. The group Mosaix performs Friday after the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Visitors can also meet holiday characters strolling through Downtown McKinney.
Family-Friendly Attractions
Families can enjoy a Ferris wheel, carousel, snow hill, and Frosty’s train. Other attractions include a petting zoo, rock climbing wall, and the beloved Candyland experience.
