Dallas Police report man tries to set himself on fire on a stolen school bus

Dallas Police Department released the following report on an incident this afternoon:

On December 7, 2012, at approximately 3:14 pm, officers responded to a disturbance call at 729 W. Jefferson Boulevard regarding a male entering an unoccupied school bus. Upon officers arrival, they observed an individual sitting in the driver’s seat of the bus attempting to set fire to some papers that was in his lap.  To prevent the suspect from injuring himself and others, officers made forced entry into the bus and took the suspect into custody.  Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, examined the suspect, and released him to the officers.  The initial investigation revealed that the school bus had been reported stolen around 1:00 am  from 12345 Inwood Road on service #303008-Z.  The suspect was taken into custody with charges pending.
