Irving residents are asked to encourage city council to vote in favor of MOU Thursday night

Thursday night the Irving City Council will discuss a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which can help the city avert a costly trial and save millions for taxpayers. Community leaders are encouraging Irving residents to reach out to the city council members and encourage them to vote for approval of the MOU. The Irving City Council agenda for May 8 lists  Item 44 “Approving a Memorandum of Understanding with a Developer to Design, Construct, and Operate an Entertainment Center.” One of the key provisions of the MOU is the Las Colinas Group would drop their lawsuit against the city.

Community activist Anthony Bond is encouraging Irving residents to contact the mayor and city council members and ask them to vote yes, because moving forward could add up to 2,000 jobs.

“2,000 jobs represent almost 5 percent of the city’s population, this could mean alot to 2,000 families in Irving,” Bond said by phone earlier today. He added, this deal will help the City of Irving avoid fighting a multi-millionaire lawsuit that many feel is not winnable.

“Then the community can focus on building the best entertainment center in DFW,” Bond stated.
