Irving Masonic Lodge will provide a community educational service project worthy of public recognition that will benefit Irving ISD Middle School students, Irving Masonic Lodge, and Masonry in general.
There are many Irving ISD high school students that are regularly honored and receive public recognition. Irving Masonic Lodge feel there is a need to honor Middle School Students.
It is the intent for the Irving Masonic Lodge to start a program that honors one outstanding eighth grade student (girl or boy) from each school with the Lamar Medal and Certificate. The award makes it possible to honor any deserving youngster for outstanding achievement, whether it be in academic work, overcoming a handicap, citizenship, volunteer work in the community, sports or extracurricular activities, or other outstanding personal achievement. The staff at each school will select the deserving student.
A dinner was held in May to honor each of the students.
