Dr. Dana Bedden submitted and the Irving ISD Board of Trustees accepted his letter of resignation on Monday night. Despite a recent contract extension through 2017, Bedden and the Board have agreed to go their separate ways due to what was referred to as philosophical differences. He led the district for three years.

Board President Dr. Steven Jones was not at the meeting, but throughout his tenure he has voiced displeasure with the Dr. Bedden. In the past, Dr. Jones has come under criticism for his outspoken comments regarding Dr. Bedden. However, with the election of Lee Mosty, Randy Randle, and Norma Gonzales to the Board it was expected to be a more challenging environment for the Superintendent.

Dr. Bedden did not speak with the media, but more information is expected from Irving ISD on Tuesday.
