RNC Statement commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month

rncWASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month:

“Today begins the month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and of Hispanics’ countless contributions to American life,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Whether a recent immigrant or fifth-generation American, Hispanics’ roots play a vital role in shaping our American Dream. Throughout our nation’s history, Hispanics’ diverse customs and cultures have enriched our country’s fabric.

“We celebrate, too, the values of faith and family, entrepreneurialism and hard work shared by so many in the Hispanic community. And to make sure we are working together in our shared pursuit of job opportunities, quality education, and strong families, our party has made an unprecedented commitment to engaging Hispanics communities across America early and often. The road to 2016 and beyond will be about having a year-round presence in precincts and neighborhoods to ensure we are sharing our message of growth and opportunity with Latino voters and listening to their concerns.

“This week  also marks the independence days of several Latin American countries—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile. We wish all a happy celebration.”

“America is blessed by its diversity, and Hispanic Heritage Month is an occasion to celebrate our varied background and shared values,” said Co-Chairman Day. “Our heritage may be different, but our futures are intertwined as Americans.”
