IRVING — The Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas has launched a new Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program and is now accepting applications for its first class, which will enter in fall 2014. The three-year, 60-credit-hour program is one of fewer than a dozen AACSB-accredited programs in the United States and the first in Texas.
“Our DBA program offers an intense, challenging curriculum centered on building strategic approaches to solving existing business problems,” said Director of Executive LearningRodney Williams, who will oversee the new program. “Coursework won’t be limited to the theoretical. Our students will actively test researched theories within their own workplaces.”
The program’s curriculum, which has been designed to quickly respond to rapidly changing business landscapes, will focus on applied research. More specifically, students will develop strategies that incorporate organizational agility, direct customer engagement, emerging technologies and sustainable and ethical business practices. Courses for the part-time program will be delivered by scholar-practitioners in a blended format that combines online learning and traditional classroom instruction during monthly in-residence weekends (Friday afternoons and Saturdays).
“The ideal DBA candidate will be an experienced business executive who is looking for career advancement or personal achievement by acquiring advanced research skills and qualifications,” said Williams. “Because the class size will be capped, the admission selection process will be extremely competitive.”
The deadline to submit application materials for the fall 2014 term is Feb. 1, 2014.
