Jay Z is requesting input on racial profiling council – is that enough?

Is Jay Z using his
Is Jay Z using his powerful influence enough?

Jay Z has decided to move forward with his planned partnership with the luxury store Barney’s despite allegations of racial profiling at recent New York stores. He released a statement via his website spotlighting his efforts to gain information regarding the allegations.  The mogul also stated he is moving forward under the condition he can participate and provide a “unique voice” on a council being set up to look into racial profiling allegations.

His statements include:

“While I await the findings of the Attorney General’s Office, I have agreed to move forward with the launch of BNY SCC collection under the condition that I have a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling.

I am in a unique position to use my voice to affect change to this disturbing issue. The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping that someone addresses the problem. I will not leave the outcome to others. I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on.”

Visit his Life + Times website for full statement.

Do you think that is good enough due diligence on his part, or would you prefer Jay Z put the entire partnership on hold?
