Reuters photographers embarked on a remarkable photojournalism project earlier this year prior to International Women’s Day on March 8. They captured photos of mothers and daughters in or near their homes, around the globe.

Savor the journey as you see the photos and realize that whether it is across the street, the country or the world — there are universal elements to the delicate dance between a mother’s dreams and her daughter’s hope for her future.

Each mother was asked how far did she get in her education, what did she hope to be when she grew up while each of the daughters were asked how far do they plan to do in their educational endeavors and what do they hope to become.

Read their answers and see the insightful photos at Yahoo.com.
