The police in Charleston, South Carolina has released photos and description of the shooter at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic African American church. Nine were killed when the young white male walked in the church and begin shooting. He remains at large and is considered very dangerous.

Three of the victims were men and six were female, no other details about the victims have been officially released yet.

“This tragedy we are experiencing right now is indescribable. The law enforcement agencies are committed and we will catch this individual,” Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen shared at press briefing Thursday morning. Chief Mullen said the FBI and other law enforcement agencies are going to be involved in the manhunt.

The shooter is described as a clean-shaven white man in his early 20s, 5’9″ with a slender build and sandy blonde hair. Photos released as he walked into the church showed him wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and Timberland boots.

Someone was briefly detained by the police late Wednesday but was later released.
