1820 Productions’ new series Sports Dads hosted by NFL and MLB superstar Deion Sanders will be featured this Monday, March 5, on the Dr. Phil Show. The show will highlight several families from the emotional series that are still struggling with sports and family balance issues.

Viewers will also see a heartfelt tag-team session with Deion Sanders and Dr. Phil to help rescue a sports mom before she pushes her daughter out of her life.
Sports Dads is described as Intervention meets Nanny 911. The show will air on the Veria Living cable network Fridays at 8 p.m. Each episode features Deion Sanders showing up to intervene on unsuspecting fathers (and sometimes moms) pushing their kids way too hard to become sports prodigies.
This show gives viewers a sideline look into the unimaginable stress filled worlds and sacrifices made by parents who are convinced their kid has what it takes to become the next big thing. Mortgaged homes, life threatening injuries and marriage dissolving arguments are not enough to detour these families when it comes to their pursuit of the dream.
A preview of episode number 2 featured Super Single Mom Kia Davis. She juggles two jobs, two daughters’ schools and homework, budding basketball star Tamiyjah’s game and practice schedule, and holds intensive private practice sessions with her daughter. Sanders steps in, with a loving assist, helps Tamyijah score a role reversal with mom.
“Ain’t no fun when the rabbit has the gun is it?” Sanders challenges Kia Davis after pushing her through pretty serious exercise drills.
This episode of Sports Dads treats all parties with respect and avoids the trap of most reality shows – demonizing the participants. It recognizes that Davis’ intense push for her daughter’s success comes from a place of love.
Back to Sander’s appearance on the Dr. Phil show, the question is will there be an intervention between Sanders and his estranged wife Pilar who recently filed a lawsuit alleging abuse and seeking $200 million?
In Dallas, the Dr. Phil episode featuring Sanders will air at 3 p.m. on KTVT, Channel 11. For other locations, find information on air times by check your local listings.
Sports Dads will air each Friday at 8 p.m. on Veria Living, a network showcasing wellness programming. Locally it is available via DISH Network and Verizon’s FIOS.
