The City of Carrollton will choose their new mayor in the runoff election this Saturday, June 10. Following the May 6 general election two former city council members, Steve Babick and Kevin Falconer, qualified for the runoff. Last month the Metrocrest Democrats hosted a forum for the candidates to share with the voters why they deserve their vote.
Hot topics such as racial profiling and the controversial new law from the recent Texas legislative session Senate Bill 4 (SB 4) banning sanctuary cities were discussed. The candidates also offered insight on ways to improve
Babick shared, “As a small business owner, I know firsthand some of the issues. As a city, we are not necessarily the most friendly area to grow a business.”
An earlier article looked at the potential impact minority voters will have in selecting the mayor with a look at the candidate the guest contributor believes will best represent the interests of Carrollton minority residents.
The polls are open on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
