Judge Teresa Guerra selected as first Hispanic to lead a division in the Dallas DA’s Office

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday the hiring of Judge Teresa Guerra Snelson as its Chief Attorney for the Civil Division of the Dallas County District Attorney’s (DA) Office.

Teresa Guerra Snelson has served as an Associate Judge with the Dallas County Civil District Courts for the past eight years, and is the former President of the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association.  She began her career as an Assistant Attorney General in the Tort Litigation Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Her illustrious career also includes trying several cases representing the Texas Department of Public Safety, where Judge Nelson was recruited to be its’ Senior Assistant General Counsel. Now, Judge Nelson accomplishes another milestone.

“I’m proud to have this new opportunity to join the District Attorney’s team, and look forward to working with Mr. Watkins in furtherance of his vision of progressive, just, and responsive government for the citizens of Dallas County.” said Judge Nelson.

District Attorney Craig Watkins is equally excited about her heading up his civil division. “Judge Teresa Guerra Snelson will be the first Hispanic to lead a division within the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.  She is qualified and will be an asset to our overall goal of becoming the best District Attorney’s Office in the Country. We look forward to her insight and leadership as we move the DA’s office into the 21st century,” said Watkins.
