COLLIN COUNTY— Collin College has earned national recognition from Handshake, receiving the 2025 Career Spark Award. The honor highlights the college’s excellence in career development and employer engagement.
However, Handshake evaluated more than 1,500 higher education partners nationwide for this year’s awards. Collin College ranked among the top 2% for its achievements in student engagement, employer partnerships, and reporting innovation.
“We’re honored that our Career Center has been recognized by Handshake,” said Dr. Neil Matkin, Collin College district president. “Our commitment remains to help students achieve their educational and career goals.”
Moreover, Dr. Matkin noted that the college’s partnership with Handshake began in 2021. This year marks the institution’s second time receiving the prestigious Career Spark Award.

“Our collaboration continues to make a positive impact on students and the workforce,” Matkin added.
Handshake serves as the largest early talent network in the United States. It connects 75% of U.S. college students to over one million employers through campus career centers.
Additionally, out of more than 1,500 participating colleges, only 40 institutions were recognized this year. The award reflects Collin College’s leadership in preparing students for success beyond graduation.
Collin College continues to expand its career readiness programs, aligning with industry partners to provide meaningful employment opportunities for graduates.
