Dallas College, Owens Corning, and the League for Innovation are launching a one-week Roofing Boot Camp. The program, November 17–21, prepares students for careers in construction and roofing while addressing critical labor shortages in the region.
The boot camp provides hands-on training and industry credentials across three tracks: Roofing Installer, Sales & Marketing, and Office Administration. Nearly 60 students are enrolled, attending classes at the RedBird Center and South Dallas Workforce Training Center.
“Dallas College is proud to partner with Owens Corning and the League for Innovation to create hands-on training that connects students with high-demand careers,” said Dr. Shawnda Floyd, provost of Dallas College. “This program represents employer-led collaboration that transforms workforce development into tangible opportunities for our community.”

Students will conclude the program on Friday, November 21, with a graduation ceremony at 1 p.m. in the Bill J. Priest Institute Auditorium. During the day, graduates will also have the opportunity to interview with local roofing contractors and industry employers, while media can connect with program leaders, students, and employers for interviews.
“Owens Corning is deeply committed to strengthening the roofing industry by investing in people,” said Jon Gardner, senior leader of strategic partnerships and learning at Owens Corning Roofing. “This program helps prepare the next generation of roofing professionals with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to succeed.”
Graduates will earn a Roofing Career Network credential in their chosen track—Installer, Sales, or Office Administration—enhancing their competitiveness in the workforce. The boot camp is part of a broader national workforce development initiative led by Owens Corning, a global building and construction materials leader founded in 1939.
