Did Dallas make the right choice to trade players?

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks (30-23) have seen the heights of the NBA playoffs several years in a row but have not tasted the glory of an actual win.  Owner Mark Cuban has traded coaches and players in attempts of finding the right stuff to take the Mavericks all the way this season.

A multiplayer trade was official announced on Saturday, Feb. 13 which included big ticket names such as Josh Howard, Drew Gooden and other players to the Washington Wizards (17-33).  The Wizards are restructuring as well and traded Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to the Mavericks.

While the Mavericks president, Donnie Nelson claimed that trading Josh Howard, who has been with the Mavs for seven seasons, was “an excruciating decision but we (Mavericks) couldn’t pass the opportunity to get two-time All-Star Butler here in Dallas.”

This announcement came moments before the 2010 NBA All-Star game on Sunday, Feb. 14 in Dallas.  The Dallas Mavericks will return to their regular playing season Feb. 16 at Oklahoma City at 7:00 p.m.
