Big Brother comes to Dallas

By Ivy N. Carter, MBA

If you haven’t heard about the CBS hit reality show Big Brother then you are late to the party.  Big Brother is a reality show where 12-14 complete strangers are selected to live in a lavish Los Angeles home where they are completely cut off from the world as they know if it for three months in hopes of winning $500,000.  That’s right!!! Three whole months with only the interaction of the people who live in the house together but there are tricks and turns along the way.  Each week someone is voted out of the house and the production crew creates obstacles for the house members.  Sounds fun?  Well the Big Brother casting crew is coming to the Dallas area April 10th at the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival from 2-6 p.m. at the CBA 11 News booth.

So what do you have to do to get on the show and spend countless down time with others experience sheer boredom for a chance at $500,000?  First you go to www.cbs.com to download the application, fill it out and be sure to arrive early on April 10th for your chance to impress the casting crew in 2-3 minutes.

“We are looking for big personalities, southern charm, no silliness or fake people,” says Big Brother casting director Robyn Cass, “We want the people of Dallas to come to the open call and be themselves.  Big Brother is looking for real people with real issues and real life experiences.  So come to the Main Street Arts Festival and give it your all.”

If the casting members are impressed with your big Texas-sized personality, then you may be invited to a second interview in Dallas.  From there if you are selected, you and at least 59 other Big Brother hopefuls, will be flown out to L.A. for a chance to meet Cass but remember only 14 will be chosen to go into the house for three months.

“Anyone going into the house must always remember to expect the unexpected, that is our motto for the show,” laughs Cass, “We want to keep all of the players on their toes, alert and playing for a chance at a half a million dollars.”

And don’t worry if you don’t make it the first time, Cass encourages you to apply, apply and apply again.
