Mariah Carey expecting first child

Songbird Mariah Carey confimed with “Access Hollywood” on Thursday she is pregnant. She and her husband, Nick Cannon, announced the news during an interview with the syndicated celebrity news show.

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” said the Grammy-award winning singer.

Rumors of Carey’s pregnancy have circulated since the couple’s secret marriage in 2008. Carey told “Access Hollywood” she suffered a miscarriage shortly after the couple tied the knot.

Carey, 40, did not provide specific details concerning the pregnancy, but she did say she is due in the spring.

According to Island Def Jam Records, her 13th album, “Merry Christmas II You,” is slated for release Tuesday, Nov. 2.
