Soldier is charged with manslaughter after killing another soldier in Killeen

Patrick Edward Myers

Pfc. Patrick Edward Myers and Pfc. Isaac Lawrence Young were drinking and watching football on late Sunday at a Killen Army base. Young began to hiccup when Myers thought that he could cure the hiccups by scaring his comrade by pulling out his handgun. This is when the victim, Young, was accidentally shot in the face by Myers. Young was prounounced dead while being transported by an ambulance on his way to the hospital. Myers has been charged with manslaughter.

“Police responded to a shooting shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday and found a man shot in the face and two other men at the residence, Killeen police said.

Myers allegedly “produced a handgun and while handling it in an unsafe manner, discharged the handgun striking the victim in the face,” police said.”
