John Kerry selected by President Obama to replace Hillary Clinton as Sec. of State

Word has finally officially leaked out (that’s the Washington way) that Sen. John Kerry will be nominated by President Barack Obama to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. This has been an open secret in Washington since last weekend. It follows an unsuccessful effort by when United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice to win support from GOP Senators. They raked her over the coals because of her comments following the attack on embassy in Libya on Sept. 11.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is not expected at the official announcement later today because she is still recovering from the flu and a concussion she suffered. Clinton recently fainted and reportedly hit her head which resulted in a concussion.

John Kerry, long-time senator from Massachusetts is the former Democratic nominee for president.

Boston Globe reported:

The Massachusetts Democrat is a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and has been an unofficial administration emissary to world hotspots from the Horn of Africa to Pakistan.

Kerry kept his mouth shut, telling a Globe reporter last Friday as he arrived back in Boston from Washington: “When the time is right, you’ll know what’s going on and so will I.”
