Museum schedules opening exhibit

The International Museum of Cultures will relocate to 411 E. Highway 67, Duncanville this month.  The opening exhibit will be presented by Murray Stein a segmented turner and sculptor.  The exhibit is scheduled for viewing on Feb. 15, 2013 at the new location according to the announcement made today by Chairman Raul Trevino.

Mr. Stein is a retired electronics engineer and former professor at George Washington University for 26 years.  He and his wife, Carol, reside in Collin County where they are actively involved in the art community.  Mr. Stein is a retired WWII army veteran.  He is a photographer and published amateur archeologist.

His wood turning involved hollow forms which range from exotic replicas of glass and pottery of antiquity, to more contemporary subjects inspired by Native Aemrican arts, international culture, music-themed sculpture and more.  Some of his sculptures involve motion, levitation, lights and sound, motivated by his engineering background.  His preference is working with wood because of its warmth, beautiful figure and many colors.  Many of the items to be exhibited will be from this collection.

For further details regarding the exhibit and hours consult the museum’s website at www.internaitonalmuseujmofcultures.org or facebook: internaitonalmuseumofcultures.orgfacebook.
