Boys Scouts considering plans to drop their ban of gay members and scout leaders

CNN, Salon and other news outlets are reporting that inside sources indicate the Boys Scouts of America are considering plans to no longer ban gay members and scout leaders on a national level. It appears local troops will retain the authority to maintain the ban.

Some might suggest the comments from President Barack Obama during the 2012 election and his second inauguration speech might have influenced the rising tide for tolerance in this bedrock American organization. Others might point to pressure from within the Irving based organization. The reality that it is likely money.

Salon shared:

“As reported by NBC News:

About 50 local United Way groups and several corporations and charities have concluded that the ban violates their non-discrimination requirements and have ceased providing financial aid to the Boy Scouts.”

How do you feel about such a change in such a traditional U.S. institution?
