Dallas Farmers Market to host Connemara “Hops for Habitat” Brewfest Series

The Connemara Conservancy Foundation’s popular “Hops For Habitat” Brewfest series heads to the Dallas Farmers Market, Feb. 16 from 7 to 10 p.m., and will feature three of the city’s most creative chefs.

Contributing to the fourth in the series of fundraising events benefitting the Conservancy’s land conservation efforts will be Justin Fourton of Pecan Lodge, Chad Houser of Cafe Momentum, and Brian Luscher of The Grape and Luscher’s Post Oak Red Hots.

Pecan Lodge, which was recently featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive Ins and Dives,” has been honored by Texas Monthly, Southern Living Magazine, the Dallas Observer and D Magazine for its BBQ and Southern cuisine. Pecan Lodge also was selected to cater Connemara’s first “Into The Meadow” dinner under the stars in 2010.

Café Momentum is the nonprofit restaurant concept conceived by Houser and Parigi restaurant co-owner Janice Provost to serve as a culinary training facility for disadvantaged youth.

The Grape, a legendary Dallas wine bar and bistro, opened in 1972 and was inspired by New York and European eateries. Brian Luscher purchased the restaurant in 2007 and updated the concept while staying true to its historical roots.

Luscher’s Post Oak Red Hots, meanwhile, features all-natural, handmade hot dogs smoked with oak. They are only available at the White Rock Local Market on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Each event in the Hops For Habitat series is designed to also promote local breweries and feature meat and produce from local farmers and ranchers. The Feb. 16 event will highlight products from Lakewood Brewing Company and Franconia Brewing along with meats provided by Local Yocal Farm to Market in McKinney.

The Hops For Habitat series raises funds for the Connemara Conservancy Foundation’s mission of helping farmers, ranchers, cities and developers work together to protect and preserve critical open space and habitats throughout North Texas.

“We’re very excited to be taking this event to Dallas, which is home to so many of our long-time supporters” said Connemara Executive Director Sandra Greenway. “And we are thrilled that we are able to feature these dynamic chefs.”

Tickets are $50 and available at connemaraconservancy.org or 469-200-4085.
