The Dallas Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc.  will read to students at the Charles Rice Learning Center, 2425 Pine St. Dallas, 75215 .  The Dallas chapter will be joined by Continental Societies, Inc. National President Dr. Florence Blount from Newport News, VA.

Continentals will be reading to Rice’s kindergarten and first grade students. Following the reading program each student will be presented a new book for their personal library.

Dallas Continentals has partnered with First Book, a longtime supporter of the Continental Societies’ National Literacy initiative.  According to Judith T. Nix, President of the Dallas Chapter, “Nationally, Continentals feel literacy is the basic ability to read and write.  This Literacy project is designed to enhance the literacy skills of our children and youth through reading and hopefully, it will propel them to process the educational materials they encounter daily.”

The purpose of Continental Societies, Inc. is to promote, foster and develop the welfare of children with special needs to improve their recreational facilities, advance their educational opportunities, and sponsor a climate of security and well-being in their environment.
