The Really Big Car Wash is a one day event with 50 car washes in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area raising money to provide need-based grants to people with cancer to help with overwhelming financial burdens. Freedom Cancer Foundation seeks to assist with these costs to allow people with cancer to focus on what really matters – their health.

According to the Association of Oncology Social Work, 68 percent of cancer patients experience financial hardship due to medical bills, and 55 percent of all cancer patients say the stress of dealing with costs negatively affects their ability to focus on their recovery. Freedom Cancer Foundation wants to be part of the solution. These car washes will help provide grants to people with cancer to help cover medical expenses, transportation costs, utilities, mortgage payments, bills, and more.

The inaugural event kicks off on April 13 to honor the struggle of the mother of Greg Anderson, the organization’s CEO & Founder, who lost her battle with cancer during the same week in April 2012.

Freedom Cancer Foundation has recruited 1,000 volunteers from area churches, universities, and high schools and they will represent Freedom Cancer Foundation at their 50 unique sites. Many of the volunteers serve because they have been touched by cancer, whether through personal experience or a loved one. Each site will feature 15-30 volunteers holding signs, directing traffic, distributing literature. Of course, there will be lots of cars washed.

The Really Big Car Wash Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at various locations throughout DFW. Visit http://www.fightfree.org/events for more details.
