DALLAS – The oldest and largest Black chamber of commerce in the nation, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce (DBCC), will hold its 24th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Thorntree Country Club in DeSoto, Texas. (825 W. Wintergreen Road) Registration is at 6:30 a.m. and tee time is at 7:30 a.m. sharp (shotgun start). The tournament is in conjunction with the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce Business Development Corporation.
The DBCC Annual Golf Tournament is one of the largest non-profit association golf tournaments in the Metroplex and draws golf enthusiasts, both amateur and semi-pro, from all over the region. The format for the tournament is 4-person scramble (best ball) and trophies and awards will be presented for 1st through 4th place finishes as well as for hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to the pin competitions.
Part of the proceeds from the annual golf tournament benefits the DBCC Excellence in Education Scholarship Enrichment Program, which is designed to enhance the educational, cultural and social experiences of students in Dallas. The program is designed to have a positive impact on the attitudes, values and behaviors necessary for student success, in and out of the classroom. Excellence in Education (formally known as Excell Plus) was established in December 1986 as a business/ education partnership between the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and Dallas Public Schools. The program has successfully impacted over 10,000 area students. The Excellence in Education program started out with 5 scholarship sponsors and has grown more successful every year. This year the program awarded over 40 scholarships and to date, the Excellence in Education program has presented nearly $1 million dollars in scholastic scholarships to area students.
Register now, space is limited! Registration fee is $200.00 per player and $800.00 per team of four (4). Registration fee includes golf cart, green fees, promotional gift bag, continental breakfast, awards ceremony luncheon and much more. Registration deadline is Friday, May 31, 2013! Tournament and hole sponsorship opportunities are available. Hole Sponsorships are $350.00 and tournament sponsorships start at $1,000.
NEW for 2013, the chamber will present a Golf Clinic for non-golfers. Cost for the 2-hour clinic is $75.00 and includes attendance at the Awards Luncheon Ceremony.
