Lying on resumes on the rise

resumesJob hunters these days aren’t simply exaggerating when it comes to their personal information and job history, but they are also creating qualifications on their own. They even add a complete job history and references to complete the deal.

The consistent rise in resume fraud is likely due to the fact that there is a high unemployment rate among people, as well as the fact that competition gets tougher by the day. This might make it challenging to land a job, which might be why people opt for falsifying information on their resumes.

Job seekers without proper degrees or professional licenses might feel that they don’t stand a chance against other applicants, thereby falsifying information out of desperation. This is why company owners and HR teamsshould keep a few things in mind:

  • It has been found that 80% of all job seekers submit resumes that contain misleading information and qualification details;
  • An estimated 23% of job seekers who apply for management positions provides misleading personal information
  • Another 75% of applicants lie about the duration of their employment, and 64% are dishonest about their personal accomplishments;
  • More than 50% of applicants state they have an official degree when they only attended college in part.

    The news about lying on resumes does not surprise me. It is, indeed, an employer’s market, and desperate job seekers do many things they should not. That’s why it is important to hire a professional resume writer who knows how to glean “the best” from you and honestly present you in a positive light.
