Dallas TARA Chapter Meeting on Wednesday will discuss DISD home rule and ALEC convention

taraThe Dallas Texas Alliance for Retired Americans (TARA) Chapter Meeting will discuss two major issues facing the community.  First, TARA’s concerns that a group called SOPS or Save Our Public Schools, is attempting to take over and essentially privatize education by making the  Dallas Independent School District a Home Rule District.

Secondly that ALEC, or the American Legislative Exchange Council, is having their national convention in Dallas on July 30-Aug. 1. This group helps to write and make laws on almost every aspect of our lives with no vote from citizens. They believe it is important for citizens to learn all they can about both of these issues.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2 from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. at APWU Hall, 2010 Postal Way in Dallas.
