CARROLLTON – The City of Carrollton Economic Development Department ranked as the fourth largest North Texas Economic Development agency, according to the Dallas Business Journal (DBJ).
Last week, the DBJ released their annual list ranked by value of completed deals in 2013. Carrollton completed a total of 117 deals—five more than in 2012—with a total value of $313.80 million. Attracting businesses like Mattress Firm, Truco Enterprises, and Duro-Last Roofing, has helped Carrollton continue its efforts and success in industrializing the area.
“Carrollton is a very competitive location for businesses in North Texas,” said Tom Latchem, Economic Development Director. “Carrollton’s business-centric approach to running City government, its commitment to the one-stop permitting process that was instituted years ago, and its collaborative public/private partnerships have resulted in a diversified tax base and a consistent approach to development that private sector decision-makers appreciate and that tax payers deserve. Additionally, we are telling the Carrollton ‘story’ globally, nationally, and regionally to very receptive target audiences as well as readying our Shop Carrollton Campaign to remind our residents that we are open for business.”
The Prosper Economic Development Corporation makes its first appearance on the DBJ list on top this year with $1.15 billion in value of deals. Richardson and Irving take the number two and three spots, while Fort Worth rounds out the top five.
