MoneyGram Literacy Center will open at Bachman Lake Public Library

moneyygramDallas based MoneyGram and City of Dallas leaders will open the MoneyGram Literacy Center at Bachman Lake Public Library.

The center will provide English as a second language, general education development and financial literacy classes to about 1,000 students each year at no cost to them. While the literacy center is primarily for adults who want to learn English, it will also offer family literacy programs during the summer and on Saturdays.

More than 70% of the people who visit the neighborhood library speak a language other than English in the home. This program will help them develop their English skills while also educating them on financial basics such as opening a bank account, building good credit, transferring money and fraud protection.

The center is part of the Corporate Partners for the Dallas Public Library project.  The three year agreement between MoneyGram and the Dallas Public Library will fund instructors, class materials and books. Classes will be offered in the spring, summer and fall.

The grand opening is scheduled for May 22 at 11 a.m. special guests include:

Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dallas

Adam Medrano, Dallas Council Member, Place 2

Jo Giudice, Director, Dallas Public Library

Juan Agualimpia, MoneyGram, EVP- CMO
