Did Marijuana Lead to Murder?

Antwon_Carter WFAA.com PictureAntwon Carter, 26, was convicted by a jury of his peers for the senseless 2013 murder of a man who sold him marijuana. The victim and Carter were friends until Carter believed that the victim was selling him over priced low quality marijuana.

Carter became enraged and called the victim and scheduled another drug buy. On January 8, 2013 the victim and a female friend meet Carter at the Red Rock Bar and Grill. Testimony painted a gruesome scene of Carter shooting the victim four times with a 9mm handgun. Cold and heartless, Carter also attempted to murder the victim’s female friend but by the grace of God he was out of bullets.

A solid case built on surveillance video, toll-booth records, phone records and testimony, Carter was charged with murder. It only took three hours of deliberations for the jury to convict. Carter was and sentenced to life in prison. In a statement made to The Dallas Morning News, DA Willis stated that Carter must serve 30 years in prison before he is eligible for parole

  1. This killing is not about marijuana. It is about the killers hurt feelings or something other emotional issue. The marijuana is the convenient excuse for the killer to kill his “friend”. I hope I never have a “friend” like these two had. As the saying goes “with friends like this, who needs enemies”.
